Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty refuse trucks and sanitation equipment safely and efficiently on assigned routes.
- Collect residential and commercial waste, recyclables, and yard trimmings according to city schedules.
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip maintenance checks on sanitation vehicles to ensure safety compliance.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and City Ordinances while working on public roadways.
- Clear debris and snow from roadways and sidewalks during inclement weather events.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure the interior of the vehicle is kept sanitary.
- Interact courteously with the public and other City employees.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License required (with a clean driving record).
- Ability to lift, carry, and push objects weighing up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Ability to stand, walk, and operate heavy machinery for extended periods in all weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude is preferred but full training will be provided.
- Ability to pass a background check and a pre-employment physical examination.
