Responsibilities
- Route Collection: Safely operate heavy-duty sanitation trucks to collect residential and commercial refuse and recycling along assigned routes.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of sanitation vehicles, reporting any mechanical issues immediately.
- Community Interaction: Interact professionally with residents and businesses, ensuring collection schedules are maintained and addressing any collection inquiries.
- Waste Management: Properly load, compact, and secure waste and recyclable materials to ensure efficient disposal.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations, traffic laws, and city policies while working in various weather conditions.
- Equipment Handling: Operate and maintain related equipment, including trash compactors, brooms, and shovel tools.
Qualifications
- License: Valid Class C Kentucky Driver’s License required.
- Experience: Previous experience operating heavy machinery or sanitation vehicles is preferred but not required; on-the-job training provided.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs repeatedly, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Background: Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Character: Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
