Responsibilities
- Collection Operations: Safely and efficiently collect residential, commercial, and municipal refuse, recyclables, and organics from curbsides and collection points.
- Equipment Operation: Operate heavy-duty motor vehicles, including rear loaders, front loaders, and compactors, following all safety protocols.
- Street Maintenance: Assist in the loading and unloading of debris from the streets during inclement weather events, including snow and ice removal.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with the public while adhering to traffic laws and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Compliance: Adhere to all DSNY safety regulations and environmental compliance standards.
Qualifications
- License: Valid New York State Class C Non-Commercial Driver's License required.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident eligible for citizenship.
- Education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- Background: No felony convictions within the last five years.
- Health: Must pass a medical examination and drug screening.
- Character: Must demonstrate good moral character and reliability.
- Residency: Must be a resident of the City of New York.
