Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and installation of water mains, sewer lines, and storm drains.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment, including backhoes, trenchers, and dump trucks, following all safety protocols.
- Clear debris, snow, and ice from streets, sidewalks, and public right-of-ways during inclement weather.
- Install, repair, and maintain traffic control devices, signs, and pavement markings.
- Assist in emergency response situations related to utility failures or infrastructure damage.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and utility maps to locate underground infrastructure.
- Collaborate with engineers and other crew members to execute complex municipal projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid New Mexico Class A Commercial Driverβs License (CDL) is mandatory.
- Minimum of two (2) years of verifiable experience in public works, construction, or utility maintenance is highly preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems is a plus.
- Must pass a post-offer drug screen and background check.
- Willingness to work overtime and participate in on-call rotation as needed.
