Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance of city facilities, parks, and public spaces
- Operate heavy machinery and specialized equipment safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency weather events (snow, flooding, storms) on a 24/7 rotation
- Conduct daily inspections of municipal assets and report maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety protocols
- Provide exceptional customer service to residents during field operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of public works or heavy equipment operation experience
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B)
- Certification in OSHA 10-hour construction safety training
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong problem-solving skills and physical stamina for outdoor work
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical examination
