Responsibilities
- Maintain City Infrastructure: Perform routine inspections and repairs on streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems to ensure public safety.
- Respond to Work Orders: Efficiently address and resolve maintenance requests from citizens and internal departments.
- Operate Heavy Machinery: Safely drive and operate trucks, front-end loaders, and other municipal equipment as required.
- Weather Response: Assist in snow and ice removal operations during inclement weather to keep roadways passable.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA regulations and city safety protocols while working in active traffic or construction zones.
- Citizen Engagement: Communicate professionally with the public and provide updates on service status.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Vocational training in a related field is a plus.
- Driver's License: Valid Tennessee Class D Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting 50+ lbs, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Experience: Prior experience in public works, landscaping, construction, or general maintenance is preferred but not required.
- Availability: Must be available for shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime during emergencies.
