Responsibilities
- Road Maintenance: Perform essential road maintenance tasks including pothole patching, asphalt repair, and signage installation to ensure safe roadways.
- Winter Operations: Operate snowplows and salt spreaders during inclement weather to clear streets and maintain traffic flow.
- Solid Waste Management: Assist in garbage collection, recycling processing, and bulk item pickup routes.
- Landscape Maintenance: Maintain public parks, medians, and green spaces by mowing, trimming, and landscaping.
- Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, excavating, and loading/unloading materials.
- Equipment Care: Safely operate and perform routine maintenance checks on light to medium-duty construction equipment and hand tools.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, sanitation, or general labor is preferred; on-the-job training provided.
- Driver's License: Valid Virginia Class C Driver’s License required.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting 50+ lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in all weather conditions.
- Tools: Basic knowledge of hand tools and small machinery is a plus.
- Safety Compliance: Ability to adhere to strict safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
