Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery such as dump trucks, graders, and backhoes under supervision.
- Perform manual labor tasks including digging, grading, and loading materials.
- Assist in the repair and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, and public right-of-ways.
- Respond to emergency situations, including snow and ice removal during inclement weather.
- Ensure all work areas remain clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Follow safety protocols and OSHA guidelines strictly at all times.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other crew members.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Virginia Class C Driver’s License is required.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, or landscaping is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Commitment to safety and teamwork.
