Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on public facilities, parks, and infrastructure including sidewalks, drainage systems, and signage
- Operate municipal equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., trucks, mowers, snow removal machinery)
- Respond to emergency weather events including snow removal, debris cleanup, and flooding mitigation
- Conduct safety inspections of public areas and report hazards or maintenance needs
- Assist with community events setup, crowd control, and venue preparation
- Maintain accurate work logs, incident reports, and inventory of equipment/supplies
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on special projects and public initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Indiana driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of hire
- Physical ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Basic mechanical aptitude and experience with hand/power tools
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Previous municipal or public works experience preferred
