Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery and specialized equipment safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency weather events (hurricanes, floods) for cleanup and restoration
- Conduct routine inspections of public facilities and report maintenance needs
- Collaborate with community leaders on neighborhood improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety regulations
- Assist with special events and public safety initiatives as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in construction, maintenance, or public works
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (Class B)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to operate heavy equipment (excavators, dump trucks, etc.)
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Must pass background check and drug screening
