Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city streets, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery including trucks, excavators, and paving equipment safely
- Respond to emergency public works calls during inclement weather or crises
- Assist in traffic control and road safety operations
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Document work activities and maintain equipment logs
- Adhere to all federal, state, and municipal safety regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) mandatory
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works, construction, or related field
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Basic computer literacy for reporting systems
