Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate and maintain light machinery (e.g., mowers, trimmers, hand tools) for landscaping and upkeep projects
- Assist in stormwater management and drainage system inspections during extreme weather events
- Support public works projects including park beautification, waste management, and traffic control
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of municipal service requests
- Document work activities and submit accurate reports for compliance and tracking purposes
- Adhere strictly to OSHA safety protocols and city environmental standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 2 years of maintenance/construction experience
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and equipment operation
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with residents and team members
- Flexibility to work evenings/weekends for emergency response situations
- Preferred: OSHA certification or experience with municipal/public sector work
