Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (backhoes, dump trucks, street sweepers) for public infrastructure projects
- Perform routine maintenance on city facilities, parks, and roadways
- Respond to emergency situations (floods, storms, utility breaks) with rapid deployment teams
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Assist in traffic control and public safety during community events
- Document daily work activities and equipment usage via digital reporting systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments (Parks, Water, Transportation)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- Valid Class C California Driver's License with clean record
- Minimum 1 year experience in construction, landscaping, or equipment operation
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems and small engine repair
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Spanish bilingual skills strongly preferred
