Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on public infrastructure including roads, parks, and municipal buildings
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, dump trucks) with proper safety certifications
- Respond to emergency weather-related public service requests
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety protocols
- Document work activities and maintain equipment logs
- Participate in community outreach and public service initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred
- Valid Louisiana Class C Driver's License (Class A/B a plus)
- Minimum 1 year experience in public works, construction, or related field
- OSHA 10/30 certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic computer literacy for reporting systems
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Residency in Orleans Parish within 6 months of hire (per city ordinance)
