Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on public facilities, parks, and roadways
- Operate heavy machinery and specialized equipment safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency weather-related infrastructure damage (e.g., flooding, storm cleanup)
- Ensure compliance with municipal safety regulations and OSHA standards
- Assist in disaster recovery efforts and community resilience projects
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for coordinated infrastructure improvements
- Document work activities and maintain accurate equipment logs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Louisiana Class D Driver's License (CDL preferred)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in public works, construction, or maintenance
- Certification in heavy equipment operation (e.g., forklift, excavator) required
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and physical environments
- Strong commitment to public service and community values
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction certification preferred
