Responsibilities
- Supervise inmate activities and maintain facility security during night shifts
- Conduct regular rounds and headcounts to ensure compliance with protocols
- Respond to emergencies and incidents using de-escalation techniques
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Monitor surveillance systems and control room operations
- Enforce facility rules and regulations consistently
- Coordinate with medical and mental health staff for inmate care
- Participate in emergency response drills and training exercises
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Ability to pass background check and physical fitness assessment
- Certification in CPR and first aid (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Willingness to complete state-mandated correctional training program
