Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility protocols during night shifts
- Conduct regular security rounds and headcounts to maintain safety standards
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents with de-escalation techniques
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Transport inmates between facilities and court appearances
- Operate security systems including control panels and surveillance equipment
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during critical incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Valid California driver's license
- U.S. citizenship and minimum age 21
- Ability to pass background check, medical exam, and psychological evaluation
- Completion of POST-certified Correctional Officer Academy
- Physical endurance for standing/walking 8+ hours nightly
- Strong conflict resolution and crisis management skills
- Flexibility to work rotating weekends and holidays
