Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations to ensure institutional security
- Conduct regular patrols, headcounts, and inspections of living quarters and common areas
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents with de-escalation techniques
- Maintain detailed logs and incident reports using digital systems
- Screen visitors and packages to prevent contraband introduction
- Participate in training programs on crisis intervention and emergency protocols
- Collaborate with mental health and rehabilitation specialists for inmate welfare
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required (college degree preferred)
- Valid California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification
- Minimum 1 year experience in corrections or law enforcement
- Ability to pass rigorous background check and polygraph examination
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Exceptional communication skills and conflict resolution abilities
- Physical fitness to meet departmental standards for mobility and restraint techniques
- Ability to work rotating night shifts with flexible scheduling
