Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls, gathering critical information and accurately relaying instructions to responding units.
- Dispatch Coordination: Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to track officer and resource locations, status, and assignments in real-time.
- Resource Management: Coordinate the deployment of police, fire, and medical units to incidents efficiently and safely.
- Crisis Communication: Maintain clear and calm communication with callers during distressing situations, providing life-saving instructions when necessary.
- Data Entry: Ensure all incident reports and logs are entered into the system with 100% accuracy.
- Training Support: Assist senior dispatchers and participate in ongoing training regarding new technologies and updated protocols.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required; Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or Communications is a plus.
- Licensure: Valid New Jersey Driver’s License is mandatory.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely over radio systems.
- Stress Tolerance: Ability to remain calm, composed, and focused under high-pressure and emergency situations.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills and ability to learn complex dispatch software quickly.
- Residency: Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
