Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility protocols during overnight hours
- Conduct regular security rounds and headcounts to maintain institutional safety
- Respond to emergencies, medical incidents, and behavioral disturbances with de-escalation techniques
- Document incidents and maintain accurate shift logs using digital reporting systems
- Screen visitors and incoming packages according to departmental procedures
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during transfers and special operations
- Maintain facility security systems including surveillance equipment and access controls
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Valid Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) certification
- Minimum 1 year security or corrections experience (military police accepted)
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Strong conflict resolution skills and crisis intervention training
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems
- Must be U.S. citizen and Ohio resident at time of hire
