Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls from the public.
- Dispatch police, fire, and emergency medical units to incidents using two-way radio and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all calls, responses, and unit activities.
- Provide critical information to field personnel and coordinate inter-agency responses.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including monitoring multiple radio channels and data screens.
- Assist citizens with inquiries, directions, and access to community resources during non-emergency periods.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid New York State driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong typing skills (minimum 35-40 WPM) and computer proficiency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under stress.
- Must pass a background check, drug screen, and medical examination.
