Responsibilities
- Monitor network traffic and security systems in real-time to detect and respond to unauthorized access, intrusions, and cyber threats.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify security weaknesses in federal systems.
- Investigate security incidents, conduct forensic analysis, and implement remediation strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Manage and configure Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools to aggregate and analyze security data.
- Document security incidents, maintain detailed logs, and prepare incident reports for federal oversight bodies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with federal regulations (e.g., NIST, FISMA) and internal security policies.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff members on security protocols and incident response procedures.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold or be eligible for an Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, or similar certifications preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or IT support within a federal or government contracting environment.
- Availability: Must be willing and able to work the night shift (e.g., 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM or 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting to senior leadership and government stakeholders.
