Responsibilities
- 24/7 Network Monitoring: Continuously monitor security systems, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention tools to identify and neutralize threats in real-time.
- Incident Response: Lead the triage, containment, and remediation of security incidents that occur during the night shift to minimize downtime and data exposure.
- Threat Analysis: Analyze logs and threat intelligence feeds to identify patterns of malicious activity and recommend proactive security measures.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct vulnerability scans and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in the network infrastructure before they are exploited.
- Compliance Reporting: Generate and maintain accurate reports regarding security events, incident logs, and compliance metrics for federal oversight bodies.
- Collaboration: Liaise with day-shift teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless handover of critical security information.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent military experience).
- Certifications: Active CISSP, Security+, or GIAC GSEC certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network security or information assurance, preferably within a government or defense contracting environment.
- Availability: Must be willing and able to work a rotating night shift schedule (e.g., 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM) with mandatory overtime availability.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
