Role Overview:
As a Night Shift Information Security Analyst, you will serve as the first line of defense against cyber threats, monitoring our systems during off-hours to ensure the integrity and security of city data. You will work autonomously to detect, analyze, and respond to security incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to city operations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) logs and alerts during night shifts for suspicious activities.
- Conduct real-time incident response, triage, and remediation of security breaches or system anomalies.
- Manage and configure firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and endpoint protection tools.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and security audits on internal networks and applications.
- Document incident reports, findings, and remediation steps in compliance with NIST standards.
- Collaborate with day-shift IT teams to ensure continuity of security operations and knowledge sharing.
- Assist in the development and testing of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, SOC operations, or network administration.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, network protocols, and operating systems (Windows/Linux).
- Experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and EDR solutions is required.
- Ability to work independently during night shifts with high attention to detail.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain necessary government security clearance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
