The Role
As the Night Shift IT Support Specialist, you will be the first line of defense for our internal staff. You will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, manage network access, and ensure system uptime during off-hours. This is a crucial position that keeps the wheels of government turning when the office is quiet.
Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 2 technical support and troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Monitor network infrastructure, server health, and security alerts during night shifts.
- Perform system backups, patch management, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Respond to emergency tickets and resolve critical issues to minimize downtime.
- Assist in the configuration and deployment of new hardware and software for government staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all technical issues and resolutions.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Valid CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification is highly preferred.
- Proven experience working in a Help Desk or IT Support role, preferably in a government or large enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be willing to work a rotating night shift schedule.
