Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot local and wide-area networks (LAN/WAN) during the night shift to ensure 99.9% uptime for government systems.
- Perform routine system patching, security updates, and configuration changes in accordance with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) standards.
- Respond to critical system alerts and incidents, escalating issues to Tier 2 support when necessary while documenting all actions in the ServiceNow ticketing system.
- Conduct nightly backups, verify data integrity, and manage storage arrays to prevent data loss.
- Collaborate with day-shift engineering teams to transition infrastructure changes smoothly and resolve pending tickets.
- Enforce physical and logical security protocols at the server room and network access points.
Qualifications
- Active Secret or higher security clearance (US Citizenship required).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Systems Administration, preferably within a government or defense contracting environment.
- Proficiency with Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) and firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto).
- Strong understanding of ITIL framework and incident management processes.
- Ability to work independently during night shifts with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to support on-call rotation for critical outages.
