Our dispatchers handle 911 calls, coordinate police/fire responses, and maintain radio communications during overnight hours when incidents often peak. This position requires exceptional calm under pressure and commitment to public service.
Responsibilities
- Process emergency 911 calls with precision and compassion during night shifts
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical personnel to nighttime incidents
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all communications
- Operate CAD systems and radio equipment during overnight operations
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical nighttime emergencies
- Provide critical information to field units in real-time
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols for sensitive incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Minimum 1 year dispatch or customer service experience
- Valid California driver's license
- Ability to pass background check and psychological evaluation
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- Experience with CAD systems (e.g., Motorola, Vigilant)
- Ability to work rotating night shifts (10 PM - 6 AM)
- Certification in APCO/NENA dispatch protocols (or willingness to obtain)
