Job Overview
The Night Shift Security Officer is responsible for the protection of personnel, property, and information at assigned government sites. This role requires a high level of alertness and adherence to strict protocols to ensure a secure environment during night hours.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough security patrols of government facilities, including grounds, parking lots, and interior spaces, to deter unauthorized activity.
- Monitor and control access points, verifying credentials and managing visitor logs in strict accordance with government regulations.
- Respond immediately to alarms, emergencies, fire alarms, or security breaches by following established emergency response protocols.
- Prepare accurate and timely incident reports, log entries, and incident forms for all observations and incidents during the shift.
- Assist with traffic control and parking enforcement to ensure safe and orderly operations during night hours.
- Maintain a high standard of situational awareness and report any suspicious activities to the Site Supervisor or Control Center.
- Ensure the cleanliness and security of the guard post and equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Must be available to work rotating night shifts (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM) including weekends and holidays.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable background check and government security clearance is mandatory.
- Strong observational skills with the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Previous experience in law enforcement, military, or security is highly preferred but not always required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
