Responsibilities
- Perform general landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, raking, and weeding park grounds and athletic fields.
- Maintain and clean public restrooms, picnic areas, playgrounds, and recreational facilities to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of recreational events, sports games, and community programs.
- Operate and maintain power equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed.
- Monitor park facilities for safety hazards, vandalism, or maintenance needs and report findings to supervisors.
- Collect and dispose of trash and litter in a timely manner throughout park zones.
- Interact with park visitors to answer questions and provide assistance, ensuring a positive experience for all.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Previous experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or custodial work is preferred.
- Ability to operate standard landscaping tools and power equipment.
- Physical stamina to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License and a safe driving record are required.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
- Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
