Job Overview:
As a Parks and Recreation Worker, you will assist in the maintenance and operation of Columbus's beautiful parks, recreational facilities, and community programs. This role is perfect for those who love the outdoors and want to build a stable career in a dynamic city.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and clean public parks, athletic fields, and recreational facilities to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for residents and visitors.
- Assist in the planning and execution of community events, festivals, and sports programs.
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and hand tools, under supervision.
- Monitor park areas for safety hazards, report maintenance needs, and enforce park rules and regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service to park visitors, answering inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of playground equipment and park signage.
- Perform seasonal duties such as snow removal, leaf blowing, and trash collection as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; some college coursework in Parks & Recreation, Horticulture, or related fields is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical labor including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Valid Driver’s License is preferred but not always required.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and reliability.
- Basic knowledge of landscaping or horticulture practices is helpful but training will be provided.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as part of the recreation schedule.
