Our ideal candidates combine physical stamina with a love for community service. You'll work outdoors in diverse weather conditions while contributing to Fort Wayne's reputation as a Playful City USA recipient. Training provided in safety protocols, equipment operation, and program management.
Responsibilities
- Maintain park grounds including turf management, landscaping, and playground equipment inspections
- Operate maintenance machinery (mowers, trimmers, irrigation systems) safely and efficiently
- Organize and lead recreational programs for youth, adults, and seniors
- Enforce park rules and regulations while providing excellent customer service
- Assist with special events, sports tournaments, and community celebrations
- Perform routine facility maintenance and safety inspections
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on seasonal projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in recreation management preferred
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Experience in outdoor maintenance, event coordination, or customer service
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in all weather conditions
- Strong communication skills and conflict resolution abilities
- Basic knowledge of turf management and horticulture practices
