Responsibilities
- Maintain park grounds, athletic fields, and green spaces through mowing, pruning, litter removal, and irrigation management
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on park equipment (mowers, tractors, irrigation systems)
- Assist with event setup/breakdown for festivals, sports leagues, and community gatherings
- Monitor facility safety, report hazards, and ensure compliance with city regulations
- Support youth/adult recreation programs including sports coaching, summer camps, and fitness classes
- Interact positively with park visitors, providing information and resolving concerns
- Collaborate with maintenance crews on seasonal projects and landscape improvements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in turf management or horticulture preferred
- Valid driver's license with clean record and ability to operate light machinery
- 1+ years experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or recreation services
- Strong physical stamina for outdoor work in all weather conditions
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to inclusive community service
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Basic knowledge of Nebraska native plants and sustainable practices
