Responsibilities
- Maintenance: Perform routine landscape maintenance including mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, and planting flowers and trees to ensure parks are visually appealing.
- Facility Care: Clean and maintain park restrooms, picnic areas, playgrounds, and recreational equipment to ensure high standards of hygiene and safety.
- Equipment Management: Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, and tractors, following safety protocols.
- Event Support: Assist in setting up, staffing, and breaking down for community events, festivals, and sports leagues held in city parks.
- Groundskeeping: Remove litter, fallen branches, and debris from trails and parklands to ensure a safe environment for the public.
- Repair & Safety: Inspect park structures for damage and report necessary repairs to supervisors; ensure proper signage is in place.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or general labor is preferred but not always required; on-the-job training provided.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform physical labor including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Driver's License: A valid New Mexico Driver's License is required.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of landscaping tools and equipment; strong attention to detail and a commitment to public safety.
- Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
