Responsibilities
- Maintain and clean public parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and recreational facilities to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
- Operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on landscaping equipment, mowers, tractors, and other machinery provided by the department.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of community events, festivals, and sports leagues.
- Perform general groundskeeping tasks, including planting, trimming, weeding, and litter removal.
- Monitor park facilities for vandalism, safety hazards, and maintenance needs, reporting issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and departmental policies while performing duties.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; some post-secondary education in landscaping or horticulture is a plus.
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or public works is preferred but not mandatory.
- Valid Nevada Driver’s License with a clean driving record required.
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude is beneficial for operating and troubleshooting equipment.
