Responsibilities
- Grounds Maintenance: Perform routine mowing, trimming, raking, and weeding of lawns, gardens, and park pathways to maintain a pristine appearance.
- Cleanliness: Remove litter, trash, and debris from park facilities, trails, and recreational areas daily.
- Seasonal Operations: Assist with snow removal, ice control, and leaf clearing during inclement weather to ensure public safety.
- Gardening Support: Assist horticulturists with planting, watering, pruning, and fertilizing trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and perform basic maintenance on landscaping tools, mowers, and light machinery.
- Event Support: Set up and take down equipment for community events, concerts, and sports leagues.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and report maintenance issues or hazards to supervisors immediately.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- License: Valid New York State Driverβs License (Class D) preferred but not mandatory for all positions.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Experience: Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or public works is a plus.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of landscaping techniques and safety standards.
- Attitude: Strong commitment to public service, reliability, and attention to detail.
