Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of 3-5 parks including maintenance scheduling, budget oversight, and vendor coordination
- Design and implement recreational programs serving 500+ community members monthly
- Lead cross-functional teams of staff and volunteers in event execution (festivals, tournaments, educational workshops)
- Ensure ADA compliance and safety standards across all facilities and activities
- Develop partnerships with local businesses and nonprofits to enhance park offerings
- Conduct park assessments and implement improvement plans based on community feedback
- Manage environmental conservation initiatives including native plant restoration and wildlife habitat protection
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Parks & Recreation Management, Environmental Science, or related field
- 3+ years supervisory experience in municipal parks or similar recreational setting
- Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or equivalent certification preferred
- Proven expertise in budget management ($500K+ annual operational budgets)
- Strong knowledge of NC recreational safety regulations and risk management protocols
- Experience developing inclusive programs for diverse age groups and abilities
- Proficient in GIS mapping and park management software (e.g., ActiveNetwork)
- Valid NC driver's license with clean driving record
