Are you an expert in Federal retirement systems? We are seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Federal Pension Specialist to join our team in Memphis, TN. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the financial security of federal employees by accurately processing pension claims and providing exceptional customer service regarding Thrift Savings Plans (TSP) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS).

Key Responsibilities:
- Process and review federal pension applications and retirement benefit requests with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
- Provide detailed, empathetic guidance to federal employees and retirees regarding eligibility, payout options, and tax implications.
- Assist with inquiries related to Thrift Savings Plans (TSP), including loan applications and hardship withdrawals.
- Maintain and update confidential employee records in accordance with federal privacy regulations and OPM guidelines.
- Collaborate with the payroll department to resolve discrepancies in pension calculations and benefit allocations.
- Conduct training sessions for new staff on federal retirement policy updates and procedural changes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Federal Benefits, Payroll, or Human Resources within a government or large corporate setting.
- Deep understanding of Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS), Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS), and Thrift Savings Plans (TSP).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to complex regulatory compliance standards.
- Flexibility to work part-time hours (20-30 hours per week) with occasional overtime during peak periods.
