Responsibilities
- Assist in the intake and processing of federal benefit applications and claims.
- Conduct outreach and engagement activities within the Oakland community to connect veterans with available resources.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in federal database systems.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on program performance, compliance, and client outcomes.
- Provide exceptional customer service to veterans, answering inquiries via phone, email, and in-person.
- Collaborate with other federal agencies and local organizations to streamline veteran services.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship: Required for federal employment.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent; Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service, administrative support, or federal program coordination is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with federal database management systems.
- Clearance: Must be able to pass a standard federal background check and obtain a suitable background investigation.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulations clearly.
