Responsibilities
- Administer Pension Plans: Manage the processing and verification of pension benefit applications, contribution adjustments, and retirement claims for part-time and full-time employees.
- Data Integrity: Maintain accurate and up-to-date member records within the state pension database, ensuring compliance with strict federal and state regulations.
- Member Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries regarding pension eligibility, vesting, and benefit calculations, providing clear and concise guidance.
- Compliance & Audits: Assist in internal audits and compliance reviews to ensure all pension activities adhere to ERISA guidelines and New York State Public Pension Laws.
- Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly reports on pension fund status, discrepancies, and member activity for senior management review.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline administrative workflows and enhance the member experience through digital tools and process optimization.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in government administration, pension processing, or public sector human resources.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with pension management software or ERP systems.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of retirement plan laws, ERISA regulations, and New York State government procedures.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to analyze complex data and maintain a high degree of accuracy in documentation.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
