Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls with professionalism and empathy
- Operate radio systems to dispatch law enforcement units efficiently
- Enter and maintain accurate incident data in CAD systems
- Coordinate resources during critical incidents and natural disasters
- Provide crisis intervention and pre-arrival instructions to callers
- Collaborate with other agencies (EMS, Fire) during multi-agency responses
- Complete comprehensive training modules on department protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM (verified by test)
- Proficient in computer applications and multi-tasking
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights/weekends
- Valid Tennessee driver's license (or ability to obtain)
- No felony convictions (misdemeanors reviewed case-by-case)
