Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, grading, and landscaping for public projects
- Operate light machinery (e.g., jackhammers, tampers, street sweepers) with proper certification
- Maintain and repair sidewalks, streets, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Assist in storm response operations including debris removal and emergency repairs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and departmental procedures
- Complete daily work logs and incident reports accurately and promptly
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure development projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Tennessee Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and construction equipment
- Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Ability to work in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold)
- Preferred: 6 months prior construction/maintenance experience
- Must be available to work weekends and occasional overtime for emergencies
