Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including street sweeping, litter pickup, and debris removal along public roads and sidewalks.
- Assist with the collection and sorting of trash, recycling, and yard waste containers.
- Support snow and ice removal operations during winter storms to ensure public safety.
- Operate light motorized equipment such as pressure washers, sweepers, and dump trucks under supervision.
- Maintain parks, greenways, and public right-of-ways in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Report maintenance issues, hazardous conditions, or safety concerns to supervisors immediately.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and city regulations while performing duties.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- Valid Class C Maryland Driver’s License (preferred but not always mandatory).
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, rain, and snow.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and equipment operation is a plus.
- Reliable transportation to and from work locations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
