Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Cleaning: Perform general labor duties including street sweeping, snow removal, and litter collection to maintain city infrastructure.
- Equipment Operation: Operate light to medium duty equipment such as dump trucks, rollers, loaders, and sweepers safely and efficiently.
- Pavement & Infrastructure: Assist in pothole repair, pavement marking, curb and gutter maintenance, and traffic sign installation.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and City of Tampa policies.
- Environmental Stewardship: Maintain public parks, rights-of-way, and drainage systems to prevent flooding and ensure environmental health.
- Reporting: Inspect work areas for hazards, report maintenance needs to supervisors, and document work completed accurately.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Licensure: Valid Florida Driver's License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly; ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Skills: Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn heavy machinery operation.
- Background: Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and a standard background check.
- Availability: Must be available to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by departmental needs.
