What You'll Do
As a Public Works Laborer, you will assist in various maintenance and operational tasks ensuring the city remains safe and clean for residents and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including sweeping streets, cleaning sidewalks, and maintaining public parks and right-of-ways.
- Assist with snow and ice removal operations during winter months to ensure public safety.
- Operate and maintain light to medium-duty equipment and hand tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Collect and dispose of litter and debris from streets and public areas.
- Perform basic maintenance on storm drains, catch basins, and guardrails.
- Respond to emergency or special work requests as assigned by supervisors.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies at all times.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the work shift.
- Physical stamina to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and small equipment is a plus.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
