Responsibilities
- Pension Administration: Oversee the daily operations of the City’s pension plans, including member enrollment, contribution processing, and status updates.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all pension and benefit calculations adhere to IRC, ERISA, and state municipal regulations. Prepare and submit required reporting to regulatory bodies.
- Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding benefits enrollment, pension vesting, and retirement eligibility.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the HRIS and pension administration software. Audit records regularly to ensure data integrity.
- Vendor Relations: Collaborate with third-party insurance carriers and actuarial firms to resolve complex benefit issues and review plan performance.
- Policy Development: Assist in the development and communication of new benefit policies and procedural updates to staff.
- Open Enrollment: Coordinate and facilitate annual open enrollment periods, ensuring all eligible employees are informed and processed correctly.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration, payroll processing, or pension management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel advanced functions preferred).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of government pension regulations, ERISA, and ACA compliance.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex benefit concepts to a diverse audience.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy in data entry and calculation.
- Integrity: Ability to handle sensitive employee information with strict confidentiality.
