Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls using multi-line phone systems
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units via radio and computer-aided dispatch (CAD)
- Provide pre-arrival medical instructions to callers during emergencies
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all communications and incidents
- Operate radio equipment and maintain constant communication with field units
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Enter and update real-time information in law enforcement databases
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED required)
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Valid California driver's license
- Ability to pass background check and psychological evaluation
- Proficiency in computer systems and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Completion of POST-approved dispatcher training program preferred
