Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with empathy and accuracy, dispatching appropriate resources
- Operate radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software efficiently
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all communications and incidents
- Coordinate with police officers, firefighters, and EMS during critical incidents
- Provide clear, concise information to callers during high-stress situations
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and departmental procedures
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance emergency response skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in criminal justice preferred
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with accuracy
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Strong communication skills with ability to remain calm under pressure
- Proficiency in computer systems and multitasking abilities
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid Minnesota driver's license upon hire
