Responsibilities
- Process and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls with calm professionalism
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems with accuracy and efficiency
- Maintain detailed records of all communications and incidents
- Provide clear instructions to callers during emergency situations
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Operate radio equipment and specialized communication technology
- Adhere to department protocols and confidentiality standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Valid California driver's license
- Ability to pass extensive background check and polygraph examination
- Experience in customer service or crisis communication preferred
- Must pass entry-level written and oral examinations
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required
