Responsibilities
- Process 911 and non-emergency calls with precision and empathy
- Dispatch police units, fire departments, and EMS during critical incidents
- Maintain detailed radio logs and digital records in CAD systems
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major incidents
- Monitor surveillance feeds and alarm systems for city-wide threats
- Operate emergency communication equipment per department protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid NYS driver's license at time of appointment
- Pass extensive background check and psychological evaluation
- Ability to multitask in high-stress emergency situations
- Clear articulation and exceptional communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (testing required)
- Must reside within Erie County or willing to relocate
