Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service with accuracy and speed.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel to incident locations using a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all calls, logs, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with officers in the field, providing critical information and situational updates.
- Monitor radio frequencies and surveillance equipment to identify potential threats or emergencies.
- Provide information to the public regarding police services, traffic conditions, and community events.
- Collaborate with other emergency service agencies to ensure a coordinated response to large-scale incidents.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; some college coursework in criminal justice or public administration is a plus.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak clearly and concisely over radio and telephone.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn complex dispatch software systems.
- Physical stamina to sit for extended periods and the ability to respond to emergency calls as needed.
